Yorkshire Water is investing £2m to upgrade over 3km of its clean water network at Northfield Sheffield.
Contract partners, Saphire Utility Solutions (SUS) are on site at Robertson Road, Northfield for the first phase to replace 3326m of mains with robust, durable clean water pipes, resulting in fewer bursts, lower leakage and reduce the likelihood of supply interruptions for customers.
Dave Standish, project manager, Yorkshire Water said: “Northfield is one of 18 mains renewal schemes identified to take place in and around Sheffield over the next two years to replace over 43km (43,360m) of mains to provide a resilient and reliable clean water network.”
“It is part of Yorkshire Water’s £406m investment plan over the next five years to renew clean water mains, targeting poor performing assets and areas prone to bursts.”
There are a number of streets identified for mains replacement in the Northfield area of Sheffield and work is expected to complete in March 2026.
Dave added: “We will have the relevant traffic management in place to keep everyone safe whilst we work at pace to deliver this important network upgrade. We will be contacting residents to keep them up to date with details of activity taking place in their local area. We’d like to thank everyone in the area for their patience whilst we carry out this important investment.”
Northfield is the latest in a number of mains replacement projects taking place in Sheffield including clean water infrastructure renewal at Loxley Road and Heathfield Road and projects already completed at Helmton Drive, Helmton Road.
