Applications are now open for the Yorkshire Water Industrial Cadet Programme, a five-day work experience opportunity for 16–18-year-olds.

Held between Yorkshire Water’s flagship learning Academy at Esholt in Bradford and Headingly water Treatment Works in Leeds, 30 students will spend a week in the summer learning about the water industry, Yorkshire Water and the services it provides, with a particular focus on science, technology, engineering, and maths.

Students will take part in practical group activities and hear from Yorkshire Water teams from across the business.

Ann Stanley, funded learning lead at Yorkshire Water, said: “Every year, our cadets come away with fantastic insight into the water industry, some of the challenges we face, and the opportunities and requirements that we have as the provider of a vital service for Yorkshire.”

At the end of the week, students will receive a nationally recognised Silver Level Industrial Cadets Award, accredited by the Engineering Development Trust (EDT) and an opportunity to interview for an entry level role at Yorkshire Water when they are ready to start their careers.

Ann added: “There is a huge range of career opportunities at Yorkshire Water and we hope this programme will help the students discover what’s on offer and grab the opportunity with both hands. Many of our current colleagues are with us off the back of the Industrial Cadets scheme and are out there making a real difference to our operations every day.”

Applications are open until Friday 20 March 2026 and the programme begins on 6th July lasting for one week.

Applicants for the Industrial Cadet programme can find information on the website.
