Yorkshire Water will start a £270k project to replace more than 550m of clean water mains at Braithwell, Rotherham on Monday 6 July.

This investment will help reduce leaks, prevent bursts and provide a more reliable clean water supply for local customers.

The essential upgrade will see ageing pipes replaced with new, more resilient mains and is part of Yorkshire Water’s largest ever investment programme of £8.3bn to strengthen infrastructure and improve services for Yorkshire Water customers.

Jason Farrar, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “We are making significant investment in Rotherham, and this is the latest of a number of mains replacement schemes to improve resilience in the clean network including Kiveton Park, South Anston and Rawmarsh.”

Contract partners M Group are due to start at Holywell Lane on Monday 6 July, working towards High Street and Holywell Crescent.  To keep everyone safe, traffic management will be in place, and details will be shared with local customers.

Jason continues: “We’ll be working as quickly as we can to complete this work and would like to thank the local community for their patience whilst we carry out this important upgrade to provide a better, more reliable clean water supply and service.”

Yorkshire Water recently announced the first of 27 projects, totalling £73.5m in the Rotherham area to add extra storage capacity to the sewer network and reduce the number and duration of wastewater discharges into watercourses following periods of prolonged or heavy rain.
