Yorkshire Water starts work on £1.2m mains replacement scheme at the Cross Hill area of Fairburn, nr Knottingley, on Monday 11 May to reduce bursts and improve water quality in the area.
Contract partners, OCU, will be installing over 4.7km of clean water mains, beginning at Cross Hill, at the junction with Gauk Street, and Caudle Hill, from junction of Cross Hill to outside Hayloft.
This is one of a number of mains replacement schemes taking place across the region as part of a £406m upgrade that will see Yorkshire Water replace over 1,000km of water mains across the region by 2030.
Victoria Corbett, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “Replacing the clean water network with durable, resilient pipework will improve the quality and reliability of water supplies, reduce leakage and prevent further bursts, helping us to deliver the quality of service that our customers rightly expect.
“The investment in the clean water network is part of Yorkshire Water’s wider £8.3bn programme to improve services for customers and upgrade infrastructure across the region in the next five years.”
The project is expected to complete in September and Yorkshire Water is in contact with residents to let them know of any localised disruption.
