Yorkshire Water contract partners, M Group, are due to start work on £935k investment to renew 2.8km of clean water pipes in Eastoft, Scunthorpe on Monday 18 August.
This work forms part of Yorkshire Water’s £406m investment to replace more than 1,000km of mains water across the region over the next five years.
Alex Spivey, project manager, Yorkshire Water, said: “We’re starting this important mains renewal project in Eastoft because the area has been prone to bursts in the past.
“Once completed it will improve reliability of drinking water supply, reduce leakage and help prevent bursts occurring in the area.”
Work will start on site on Monday 18 August at Pademoor Terrace, Strickland Road and Donville Road before moving onto Washinghall Lane under temporary traffic lights to keep everyone safe.
From 15 September the mains replacement work will move to Luddington Road (B1392) starting at the junction of Washingall Lane. There will be a temporary road closure and signed diversion in place so that contractors can work in safety.
Alex continued: “We’re working as quickly as we can to get this replacement work completed and will be keeping residents informed of our activity and progress. This is one of a number of schemes in the area to provide a resilient and robust water mains network and represents our largest investment of the last two decades.”
The project is expected to complete at the end of the year.
