Liquid waste disposal
Yorkshire Water offers disposal outlets for both domestic and commercial liquid wastes, which is both legally compliant and cost effective.
We have a number of sites across Yorkshire which are able to take a variety of different wastes from a number of different industries.
Customer benefits of disposing at Yorkshire Water
The two main benefits of disposing of both commercial and domestic waste at Yorkshire water is that disposal is legally compliant and cost effective.
Disposing at Yorkshire Water provides the customer with the peace of mind that the waste is disposed of compliantly and in an environmentally sustainable and safe manner. Yorkshire Water is a member of the Biosolids Assurance Scheme (BAS), ensuring that the environment is protected when recycling Biosolids.
We have sites available for liquid waste discharge across the county, potentially reducing the mileage the tanker travels on the road, reducing the cost of transport. We also have a very competitive “gate fee” for our trade customers, starting at £7.12 per m3 (depending on the strength of the waste)
All of our sites which import waste have JRP loggers which measures the volume of liquid waste discharged accurately. The loggers are serviced and maintained regularly to ensure accuracy in the information they provide – resulting in no overcharging.

Domestic Waste
We provide a disposal outlet for domestic waste, which includes septic tanks and cesspits across our network of sites around the county, ensuring that mileage travelled is kept to a minimum.
All the domestic waste imported into our sites passes through a logger, which records the exact volume discharged, ensuring that the charge to the customer is accurate.
Yorkshire Water will accept any domestic type effluents which includes: Septic Tanks, Cesspool waste and chemical toilet waste.

Commercial Waste
We also provide disposal outlets for trade wastes which can not be discharged to sewer for whatever reason. We can treat liquid wastes and effluents from a number of different industries which are not limited to:
- Leachates
- Strong Organic wastes
- Liquid waste from food manufacturing
- Ground and surface water
- Contaminated waters
- Boiler related effluents
- High COD wastes
- Chemical wastes
- Pharmaceutical wastes
Our prices for Commercial Wastes are based on the MOGDEN formula, with a minimum charge currently at £7.12/m3.
The trade waste application process
The start of the process would be to fill out the tankered Waste Enquiry form. This form collects information on how the waste is generated and will give us the information needed to understand what the waste may contain and what we would need to analyse the waste for.
Yorkshire Water will then collect a sample, and once the sample has been analysed, we can then provide the customer with a disposal price, and organise the necessary paperwork to commence imports.
Please click here to download the Commercial Waste Customer Enquiry Form and send it to tankeredwaste@yorkshirewater.co.uk. Once it has been sent to Yorkshire Water, our Business Development Manager will be in touch to continue the process and provide/collect more information.
