Clean water mains improvement scheme starts in Long Riston
4/30/2026
Yorkshire Water will begin a £460k project to replace 1.7km of clean water mains in the villages of Long Riston and Routh, near Beverley on Monday 11 May, to improve the resilience and reliability of the network.
It is one of a number of mains replacement schemes taking place across the region as part of a £406m upgrade that will see Yorkshire Water replace over 1,000km of water mains across the region by 2030.
Aadam Baluch, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “Replacing the clean network with flexible, plastic pipework will improve the quality and reliability of water supplies, reduce leakage and prevent further bursts, helping us to deliver the quality of service that our customers rightly expect.”
Contract partners, United Infrastructure, will replace mains pipework along the A1035 between Routh and White Cross roundabout and is scheduled to take six weeks to complete. Local residents have been informed of any localised disruption.
Aadam continued: “The investment in the clean water network is part of Yorkshire Water’s wider £8.3bn programme to improve services for customers and upgrade infrastructure across the region in the next five years.”
