£1.1m mains replacement scheme to start in Seacroft
22/04/2026
Yorkshire Water will begin a £1.1m project to replace 1.9km of water mains in the Boggart Hill area of Seacroft on Monday 27 April to improve the resilience and reliability of the area’s network.
Clean water mains will be replaced by flexible, durable, plastic pipework on Barncroft Road, Barncroft Drive, and Kentmere Avenue.
The project is one of a number of mains replacement schemes taking place across the region as part of a £406m upgrade that will see Yorkshire Water replace 1,000km of water mains across the region by 2030.
In Leeds, there are currently projects underway in the Cross Green Way and Richmond Hill areas.
Completed projects include a £540,000 mains replacement in Harewood, and a previous £1.4m scheme in the Foundry Lane area of Seacroft.
Victoria Corbett, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “Replacing the mains will improve the reliability of water supplies, reduce leakage and prevent further bursts, helping us to deliver the quality of service that our customers expect. We’ll be getting the work done as quickly as we can so that customers can start to feel and see some of the benefits soon.”
Contract partners at O’Connor Utilities are expected to complete the work by the end of the year. Local residents have been informed of any localised disruption.
The investment in the clean water network is part of a wider £8.3bn programme to upgrade infrastructure and improve customer service by 2030.
