Bradford water pumping station to be rebuilt

A water pumping station on Hollingwood Lane in Great Horton, Bradford, is to be rebuilt as part of Yorkshire Water’s £8.3bn investment into upgrading infrastructure and improving services for customers.

The £5.3m project will see the Paradise Green station, which pumps treated clean water to homes and businesses in the surrounding area, decommissioned and rebuilt by early 2028.

Contract partner OCU Group will carry out the work in two stages. Starting in late January and completing in the summer, the first part of the project will see large pipes in the immediate vicinity of the station being upgraded.

The second stage of the work will involve the construction of the new water pumping station and decommissioning the existing station.

Victoria Corbett, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: "The existing water pumping station is reaching the end of its expected lifetime, so building a new station in the area means that we can continue to service the local area with clean water from a resilient and robust network.”

The new station will be built in a new location off Hollingwood Lane, opposite the existing location next to Aldi.

The project forms part of Yorkshire Water’s five-year £8.3bn investment programme, which aims to upgrade infrastructure and secure the delivery of reliable water and wastewater services to customers in the region.

To enable the work, and for the safety of residents, road users, and colleagues, there will be traffic management – including temporary lights on Hollingwood Lane - for the first part of the project.
