Yorkshire Water will hold a supplier day in Leeds on 30 March to allow businesses in the wastewater sector to showcase how they can help the utility tackle a number of challenges it faces in sludge management and treatment.

The utility has aims to reach carbon net zero by 2030 and is looking for businesses to come forward with new technologies and ways of tackling a variety of challenges. These include reducing energy usage, reliance on chemicals and process emissions, improving efficiency and sustainability and reducing or removing use of the landbank for sludge recycling.

Companies signing up to the event will be able to present their ideas or have face-to-face meetings with decision makers at Yorkshire Water.

Laura Walton, bioresources commercial and markets manager, said: “As a business we’re always looking to evolve our processes and work with innovative partners that have developed unique solutions to the challenges sludge treatment poses to the water sector.

“We hope this supplier day will provide access for smaller, agile companies that have market ready technologies which may be new to Yorkshire Water or the wider water industry.”

Businesses looking to register their interest before the 10 March should contact bioresources@yorkshirewater.co.uk for further information. Companies will be asked to provide a brief description of how they can help address one of the areas above before being allocated a meeting.
