Why are bills increasing?
The money from your bills is helping to fund our biggest-ever programme of investment – £8.3 billion between 2025 and 2030. This will continue to improve our service to you, reduce pollution and leakage, maintain high-quality drinking water, and protect rivers and coasts.
We're here to support you
We know that increasing bills can be worrying and we're here to help. Depending on your situation, there are lots of ways you can reduce and manage your bills.
I have a meter
If you already have a meter, there are lots of simple ways to save water and keep your bills down.
I don't have a meter
You could avoid paying more than you need to by switching to a meter. It’s free and easy to switch.
Financial support
We have a range of short and long-term payment schemes designed to help if you're struggling financially.
Extra support for you
Our Priority Services Register is here to make life easier if you need some extra help. For instance, if you or a loved one:
- have sight problems
- are disabled
- are a new parent
- have mobility issues or concerns
- need extra support for any other reason
Any questions?
Do bills fund investment?
In short, yes – customer bills help us improve services, upgrade infrastructure, and prepare for challenges like population growth and climate change.
You can find out about some of the investment projects here.
Why do bills change?
We work in 5-year cycles called Asset Management Periods (AMPs). Before each cycle, we go through a regulatory process called a Price Review. This is where we set out the plans we want to deliver and outline the level of investment and any changes to customer bills needed to be able to deliver on our plans.
Is there help available with my bill?
Yes - We offer a range of support plans to help customers with bills, including schemes like WaterSupport (for low-income households), WaterSure (for customers with medical needs or large families), and the Community Trust Fund for those facing financial hardship. Customers who qualify can apply by visiting yorkshirewater.com/help or calling 0345 1 299 299.
Customers who don’t qualify can save in other ways, like switching to a meter or trying to being more careful with water usage if they’re already on meter.
