Some customers may notice a change in their water pressure while we carry out essential repairs to Goldthorpe Water Tower.
Latest update: 4.45pm 27 February 2026
We know some customers that live close to Goldthorpe Water Tower are experiencing intermittent low pressure and temporary loss of supply related to essential engineering work we’re carrying out. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience that might cause.
The tower is currently out of service while we make repairs, but we’re working hard to get it back into service and everything back to normal as soon as possible.
The tower plays an important role in balancing water pressure and providing water supply to the surrounding areas – while it is out of service, we know that some customers are struggling to get a strong water supply in the early evening, when water demand is at its highest. This is because the water is being used by customers quicker than we’re able to get it into the pipes, meaning it fluctuates in pressure.
We have teams surveying the network to check valves and make sure there’s as much water in the system as possible; we’ve also added additional tankers in the area to support customer supply. Customers should see an improvement in their water pressure, although we know it’s not totally back to normal yet.
Customer support:
Customers on our priority services register will receive daily deliveries of bottled water to their home while the issue is ongoing. If you, or someone you know, need additional support and is eligible for our priority services, please let us know.
Additionally, there are pallets of bottled water at Whitworth Street car park (S63 9NF) for customers to collect as needed. The what3words for this location is: highly.revival.reinvest.
We ask that customers only take as much as they need, to make sure there is enough for everyone. When you're collecting bottled water please take care to observe any moving vehicles and pedestrians. Thank you for your patience.
