Jon Stokes, head of delivery for Yorkshire Water’s storm overflow reduction programme, said: “Reducing storm overflow discharges is a key part of our plan over the next five years, and we need new talented project managers to help us carry out the work and meet our ambitions. We’re heading into an incredibly challenging and busy period, but we see it as a fantastic time to come aboard, have a positive impact on the environment, and enjoy a rewarding career.”

The projects will comprise of a range of civil engineering and nature-based solutions, such as integrated wetlands, and will require collaboration with contract partners in the design and delivery phases.

Jon added: “We’re breaking new ground in our approach to standardisation and modern methods of construction, and although we’re only a month into the delivery period, we’ve been making brilliant progress alongside our partners. It's a highly collaborative, integrated team, who are focused on finding long-term solutions for the business and our impact on the environment.”

The £1.5bn storm overflow project forms part of Yorkshire Water’s wider £8.3bn investment over the next five years, its largest ever environmental spend.
