£700k mains replacement work in Skelton Goole starts
1/29/2026
Yorkshire Water will start work on a £700k project to replace 1.9km of water mains at Skelton, Goole at the beginning of February.
This project will improve the reliability of water supply, reduce leakage and prevent burst mains in the area. It is part of Yorkshire Water’s £8.3bn investment in Yorkshire's water infrastructure over the next five years.
Contract partners M Group will start on site on Monday 2 February and will be renewing the mains network along part of Howden Road, Skelton, over the course of four months.
Jason Farrar, project manager, Yorkshire Water, said: “This is part of our wider £406m investment to renew over 1,000km of water mains across the region by 2030. We are aiming to replace over 238km of our clean water infrastructure by April, prioritising poor performing assets that will benefit most from mains renewals in areas prone to disruption, bursts and supply interruptions.
“Our partners will be working as quickly as they can to keep disruption to a minimum and we’d like to thank residents and the local community for their patience while they undertake this important upgrade.”
Yorkshire Water is contacting local residents to keep them up to date with any disruption. This project is the latest of over 20km of mains replacement schemes taking place in the Goole and Doncaster by April including Wheatley Hills and Thorne Bank, Wroot.
