To help keep everyone safe, our car park at this reservoir is closed and we're asking everyone not to visit for a little while - hopefully it won't be for too long. We'll update here when it's back open. For more information please visit our reservoirs page.
Widdop Reservoir is less than 10 miles to the north west of Hebden Bridge in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Nestled in Widdop Valley and surrounded by dramatic rocky crags and exposed open moorland, this reservoir provides a peaceful sense of remoteness. Yorkshire Water’s free car park is situated right next to the path up to the waterside, just off Ridehalgh Lane.
Walkers seeking to get away from it all and explore this beautiful upland area can follow the path which encircles the reservoir or extend the route by climbing onto Shuttleworth Moor and down the other side to visit Gorple Upper and Gorple Lower Reservoirs. It is well worth the short ascent to be rewarded with a series of rippled rocky outcrops and the spectacular vistas beyond. Free parking is available at our car park on Widdop Road.
