Since the government guidelines have changed, we’ve been working hard to devise a plan to keep everyone safe while enjoying our beautiful reservoirs. This weekend we’ve reopened the car parks at six of our reservoirs so visitors can walk around them as long as social distancing rules are observed.

Our other car parks remain closed. Please only visit these reservoirs if you live within walking distance. We will continue to assess our other car parks over the next couple of weeks and we’ll provide updates here.

All of our toilet facilities are still closed at these reservoirs so please be mindful of this when visiting.
Thruscross is the highest reservoir in the charming Washburn Valley feeding water into Fewston, Swinsty and Lindley Wood reservoirs. With its altitude comes stunning views of the valley and surrounding moorland. Use our free car park on Reservoir Road, Thruscross, Harrogate HG3 4BB. Please note there is a 2.1m height barrier. The walk features woodlands, moorland, pastures and ruined farmsteads galore, ensuring an enjoyable, picturesque experience.
