Yorkshire Water colleagues support food banks this Christmas

Every year Yorkshire Water colleagues dig deep to make food bank donations at Christmas to make sure vulnerable people don’t go hungry and this year is no exception. We are supporting food banks and homeless charities in Yorkshire again this Christmas. Donations of basic food supplies along with Christmas food items have poured in from kind-hearted colleagues of Yorkshire Water.

Hilary Benn, Member of Parliament for Leeds Central, accompanied colleagues from Yorkshire Water to deliver some ‘Christmas cheer’ to St George’s Crypt on Friday 8th December.

St George’s Crypt is a charity in centre of Leeds working with the homeless, the vulnerable and those suffering from addiction. Staff and volunteers at the Crypt offer these vulnerable people the things many of us take for granted; beds, food, washing facilities and clothes. They also offer a caring ear, friendly support, prayer and counselling.

Emily Brady from Yorkshire Water said: “This year's campaign has been very well received and the generosity of colleagues has been overwhelming. We recognise what a lifeline food banks can be to people in crisis and we are very pleased to be able to help these vital charities this Christmas.”

Yorkshire Water provides various means of support for customers who are struggling to pay their water bills and urges them to get in touch or visit the Bill Help page for more details about the help available.

Charities in Brighouse, Pontefract, Knottingley, Normanton, Huddersfield, Bradford and Knaresborough will also benefit from donations of food
