Yorkshire Water’s £8m reservoir replacement project starts its next phase, as the first of two reservoirs has been commissioned and is supplying Rotherham with drinking water.

The work will replace two reservoirs that have reached the end of their asset life.

Just over halfway into the project, work will now begin to demolish the second reservoir, before a replacement is built and commissioned by summer 2022.

Mark Broady, project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “The new reservoirs in Boston Park will ensure that we’re able to continue supplying high quality water to thousands of properties in Rotherham.

“We’re really pleased to see the first reservoir start operating and we will soon be starting the second phase of the project. The scheme marks a significant investment in our network in Rotherham and we’re really grateful to local residents and the Friends of Boston Castle and Parklands for their patience and collaboration throughout the project.”
