Yorkshire Water has launched free family workshops designed to encourage children to engage with the environment and wildlife.

The workshops, which will be available during Spring Bank Holiday half term, at Langsett reservoir and Tophill Low nature reserve, will include activities such as minibeast hunts, owl pellet dissection and pond dipping.

There will be two sessions available on selected days, each lasting two hours – 10am-12pm and 1pm-3pm.

Five family groups, each made up of a maximum of six people, will be able to take part in the workshops, which will be run by Yorkshire Water’s education team.

Anne Reed, social responsibility and education manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer education sessions in person once again after a difficult period for parents, children and teachers.

“These free family workshops will encourage young people to interact with the natural world around them, with a range of activities for all age ranges.”

Families can book their places by visiting the Parents page of the education section on of the Yorkshire Water website.
