The Living With Water partnership, comprising Yorkshire Water, Environment Agency, Hull City Council, and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, has awarded Stantec a contract to progress a sustainable approach to water management in Hull and East Riding.

This Blue-Green Master Plan is truly innovative and will establish sustainable drainage solutions at a city-wide level and reduce flood risk across Hull and the East Riding. Living With Water will work with Stantec’s global experts to help develop exciting new ways of managing water and support regeneration of the region.

Nevil Muncaster, a Living With Water board member and chief strategy and regulations officer at Yorkshire Water, said: “The Blue-Green Plan developed by Stantec will result in an innovative way of looking at sustainable drainage and provide key solutions for Hull and the East Riding in the future. We’re looking forward to seeing Stantec’s plans come to fruition and deliver vital water management solutions for Hull and the wider East Riding.

“The focus on climate change mitigation and social value is an important element of this project and we’re looking forward to delivering benefits, through Living with Water, for communities that have been impacted by flooding in the recent past.”

A key element of the project is to work with residents to understand the views and aspirations of people living in Hull and the East Riding. Economic growth and social prosperity will also be an important objective of the plan.

Scott Jackson, regional leader for water, Stantec UK & Ireland said: “We look forward to working with the Living with Water Partnership to develop an innovative Blue-Green Plan that will lead the way for sustainable drainage of the future. This appointment will enable Stantec to bring our global expertise and experience in delivering climate change mitigation and social value for the benefit of the communities we serve.”
