Tophill Low Nature Reserve is located at Watton Carr, Driffield (YO25 9RH) and is a haven for birds and wildlife.
During school holidays we are able to offer free 2-hour workshops where you can learn about nature and take part in activities such as hunting for minibeasts and pond dipping.
Each workshop will comprise of 5 activities, these are likely to be:
- Pond dipping
- Nature trail
- Plants & pollinators
- Nature inspired crafts
- Owl pellets

To comply with our current safety guidelines, these sessions are pre-bookable only, and attendance will be limited to five family ‘bubbles’. Each bubble should consist of no more than six people (adults or children) and should have a minimum of one adult and one child in the group.
All safety precautions will be in place and social distancing will be in operation between family groups.
If you are taking part in our family workshops, there will be no entrance fee to the reserve. Any visitors staying on after the session to explore the reserve further are welcome to do so. If you wish to make a donation towards your visit, please do so by purchasing a ticket from the ticket machine on site, as our site team are unable to handle cash at the present time.

Our family workshops usually take place during the school holidays.
The next sessions will be planned for 2022 - so please keep checking back for availability, as our dates tend to get booked up quite quickly.

Please note, each session will be limited to 5 family groups, with a maximum of 6 people per household, to include at least 1 adult.
How to book
Once booking is open, you can reserve your place by emailing education@yorkshirewater.co.uk.
Please ensure you include ALL the following information:
- Your name and the names of all your group
- How many adults and children are in your group
- The ages of the children
- Your home address and postcode
- Your contact phone numbers – preferably a mobile and a landline number
- Your preferred date and session time
All bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis.
We will contact each booking in order to take further details and confirm your session.
