Delivering Christmas cheer to children at hospitals across Yorkshire

Sarah Royal, from Idle in Bradford, has co-ordinated an effort to deliver 1,100 selection boxes to children in eight hospitals across the county.

It is the sixth year that Sarah, who manages Yorkshire Water’s social media channels from its’ Bradford HQ, has ran the appeal.

Sarah collected 400 boxes which went to Airedale, BRI and Calderdale, while West Yorkshire Police PCs Jessica Levitt and Hannah Young helped by donating 730 boxes to LGI, St James, Pinderfield, Harrogate and Dewsbury.

Yorkshire Water’s Christmas appeal supports food banks and homeless charities in the Yorkshire and Humber region again this year. Donations of basic food supplies and Christmas goodies, including selection boxes, have poured in from kind-hearted employees.

Sarah said; “It must be awful to be a child in hospital at Christmas so it’s nice to see them smile when we drop by to say Merry Christmas with our chocolate treats. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and I’m hoping my appeal will grow again next year.”

There was also £150 left over in cash donations to the appeal which will be donated to Starlight, a charity which brightens the lives of seriously ill children by granting wishes-of-a-lifetime.
