Royal appeal donates selection boxes to children in Calderdale Royal hospital

Sarah Royal, from Idle in Bradford, has donated over seven hundred selection boxes to children in hospitals at Christmas over the past three years.

In the first year Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) benefitted from the appeal. In years two and three both BRI and Airedale General Hospital received festive deliveries.

This year Sarah, who manages Yorkshire Water’s social media channels from our Bradford HQ, asked for help from her friends and colleagues so a third hospital, Calderdale Royal, was included.

Yorkshire Water’s Christmas appeal supports food banks and homeless charities in the Yorkshire and Humber region again this year. Donations of basic food supplies and Christmas goodies, including selection boxes, have poured in from kind-hearted colleagues.

Sarah set herself a target of 350 boxes this year which has been smashed by donations of boxes and cash from her friends, family and colleagues.

Sarah’s friends, Aman Athwal and Ricky Alonso, owners of Northen Granite, have offered to match every selection box she collected with a £1 donation to chairty so she’s raised at least £350 for that worthy cause too.

Holly Lynch, Member of Parliament for Halifax, accompanied Sarah to deliver some of this ‘Christmas cheer’ to children at Calderdale Royal Hospital on Thursday 22 December.

Sarah said; “It must be awful to be a kid in hospital at Christmas so it’s nice to see them smile when we drop by to say Merry Christmas with our chocolate treats. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and I’m hoping my appeal will grow again next year.”

BRI and Airedale Hospital children’s wards also received a delivery from Sarah the very same day along with Naz Shah MP and Kris Hopkins MP.
