Water mains renewal in Huddersfield Road, HX3

Our contractors will be renewing a water main in Huddersfield Road in Elland later this month.

The team from Morrison Utility Services (MUS) will renew a section of water main in Huddersfield Road between the junctions with Jubilee Road and Wakefield Road and Stainland Road. This will reduce the risk of future bursts and provide customers with a more secure water supply.

Traffic management and fully signed diversion routes will be in place so the project can be carried out safely. Work will take place in the school holidays to reduce traffic disruption as follows;

On Thursday 16 February Jubilee Road will be closed to through traffic, at the Huddersfield Road junction, so a site compound and welfare facilities can be located there. Vehicle access to Jubilee Road will be gained via Backhold Lane until Monday 27 February when work is complete.

On Friday 17 February MUS will start renewing the main in Huddersfield Road. A give and take traffic management system will be used for just over a week.

At 8pm on Friday 24 February Wakefield Road will be closed to vehicles from its junction with Stainland Road in the northerly direction (towards
Halifax) and Stainland Road will be closed from its junction with Wakefield Road in the southerly direction (towards Huddersfield). These closures will remain in place until 5am on Monday 27 February. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

We apologise for any traffic delays and advise motorists to consider a different route or allow extra time if they do need to travel to the area.

It’s unlikely that MUS or Yorkshire Water colleagues will need access to properties and we ask residents and business owners to be on their guard against bogus callers while the team is working in the area.

Both Yorkshire Water and MUS colleagues carry identity cards which can be checked by telephoning 0800 1 38 78 78 and they won't mind waiting while their details are verified.
