Investment at Lofthouse

Residents in the Lofthouse area are set to benefit from a £100,000 scheme to improve our sewerage system as we bid to help make surface water sewer flooding a thing of the past.

Our contract partners, Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB), were working earlier this year to replace a damaged section of sewer that runs under Green Lane and Jumbles Lane in Lofthouse, Wakefield.

  • During times of heavy rainfall, flooding occurs in this area due to some structural damage on the existing surface water sewer.
  • 46metres of damaged pipe┬áhas been┬áreplaced with new, more robust iron pipework. An additional 109metres of sewer has be cleaned and re-lined in order to reduce the risk of flooding.
