Thirsk
Thirsk was affected by a number of bursts last year, causing some customers to go without water for some time.
What we're doing
Since this incident, we've been working hard to understand how we can prevent this happening again. Since early October, we've being working on a £3.5million scheme which will reduce the risk of similar incidents happening in the future. The project involves laying a new 10.5km pipeline from Northallerton to South Kilvington which will provide an additional supply to Thirsk, which we can use should we need to.
The new water main has now been laid within the A168 and we would like to apologise to customers who have been affacted by our roadworks whilst we completed this section of the project. Although the new pipe is in place, we'll have to return occasionally between now and March to test the pipe and carry out connection work.
