Ripon
We recently started a £4million programme of work to improve and maintain the high standard of water quality we supply to the Ripon, Harrogate and Knaresborough areas.
The project highlights our commitment to reducing bursts and leakage in North Yorkshire, where we know we have some of the oldest pipes in the region, and improving reliability of water supplies to our customers in the area.
As part of this project, we had planned to close Kirkby Road from the 16 April for 13 weeks.
On Tuesday 3 April, we held a customer drop-in, where it was made clear that the impact to local businesses and commuters was much greater than we first anticipated. Following this session, we've decided to review the proposed solution with a view of finding a less disruptive one.
We will therefore not be starting this work on the 16 April, and Kirkby Road will be open as usual. We'll have to return to carry out this essential scheme in the future; however, we do hope that a much less disruptive method or route can be found. We'd like to thank everyone who came along to the drop-in, and hope that this decision shows our commitment to reduce our impacts to customers.
This page will be updated as soon as we know more. We'd like to apologise for anyone who has already made alternative arrangements.
