Improving water quality and reducing disruption to water supplies

Child drinking glass of waterWe deliver around 1.3 billion litres of water per day from 250
water sources, treated at around 70 water treatment works to
produce high quality drinking water.

We then use our extensive water Grid and over 31,000 km of water mains to deliver water to consumers.

So what will we be investing in?

With over 31,000 km of pipes it's not uncommon that we need to repair or replace some of them - especially when you consider that the some of the original pipes were laid in Victorian times.

We try to upgrade our pipes with little disruption to local residents, businesses and commuters, but we only do this where there is a risk to water quality or supply.

Click on the links down the left to see where we're currently improving our water mains and how the work might affect you.
