Improving water quality in the River Don
We're spending £75 million at our Blackburn Meadows waste water treatment works near Meadowhall over the next five years to improve water quality in the River Don.
Over recent years, the site has been subject to a number of odour complaints and we're committed to addressing this issue. The scope of our work includes the installation of additional odour control.
The work is also necessary to ensure that the site complies with the European Union Freshwater Fish Directive, ultimately creating a healither environment for fish and wildlife in the river Don.
