What's happening in your constituency?
Between 2010 and 2015 we will be investing £3.5 billion into the Yorkshire region. The money we spend will go to improving standards in a number of different areas, including:
- Continuing to provide a secure drinking water supply
- Maintaining high standards of drinking water
- Reducing the number of properties that experience sewer flooding
- Maintaining and enhancing treatment works and water mains
- Improving the quality of bathing water in our region
Where is the money being spent?
We're working on a number of different schemes around the region - here's a quick insight into some of the projects that we are involved in.
North Yorkshire
£110 million to improve bathing water quality on the east coast
- £2 million to improve the quality and security of drinking water in the Richmond area
- £18 million to upgrade Acomb Landing Water Treatment Works in York to ensure a high quality and reliable drinking
Hull and East Riding
More than £3 million on odour control equipment at Saltend Waste Water Treatment Works in Hull
- £17 million for new nitrate removal equipment at Tophill Low Water Treatment Works near Driffield to improve drinking water quality
- £6.7 million to link the East Coast up to our grid which transports drinking water around the region whatever the weather
- We'll complete the final phase of a £30 million investment in Hull to better protect the city against flooding
South Yorkshire
£12 million to improve drinking water quality at Rivelin Water Treatment Works in Sheffield
- £13 million to upgrade the underground pipework in Sheffield to reduce the risk of discoloured water
- £70 million to upgrade Blackburn Meadows Waste Water treatment works in Sheffield to meet the Freshwater Fish Directive and create a better environment for fish in the River Don
West Yorkshire
£8 million to replace 40,000 lead pipes in Leeds to improve drinking water quality
- Nearly £5 million to upgrade Chellow Heights and Graincliffe Water Treatment works in Bradford to improve drinking water quality
