The Great Escape

Ever fancied trying your hand at a spot of film producing?

We're giving you the chance to win a free Flip camcorder so you can record video footage whenever you're out and about, and even add your own cutting room touches!

For a chance to win a Flip camcorder we're asking you to escape to one of our reservoirs dotted across Yorkshire and test out your film-making skills. 

What to film

We'd like you to record a short film (maximum 30 seconds) either on your mobile or using a camcorder that captures what you think is so great about your favourite reservoir.  It might be a stunning panoramic view across the water's edge, wildlife caught on camera or just people enjoying a good day out - it's your choice really! 

How to enter

Once you've downloaded your short film to your PC, we'd like you to add it to our YouTube channel.  We've put one of our reservoir videos in there already to get things going.  All you have to do is respond to this video by uploading yours.  Here are a few steps to follow:

1. Sign in to YouTube.  If you're new to YouTube you'll need to set up a new account.
2. Upload your video.  Please give the video a title (Great Escape: reservoir name) and Description (your name and email address).  It's important that you let us know your name and email address so we can let you know if you've won!   
3. We'd like you to respond to our Langsett reservoir video - click here to see it on YouTube
4. Underneath the Langsett video in the Commentary tab, click on the Post a Video Response link
5. Click on the Choose a Video tab, select your video from the drop down list and click on the Respond with This Video button.
6. Your video response is now complete.  We'll be notified by email that you've posted a response.  All videos will be approved by us before they appear on our channel.

How we'll pick the winners

Each month until the competition closes we'll pick out the best videos that have been uploaded to our YouTube channel (not just any Tom, Dick and Harry - sorry a very bad Great Escape pun!).  We'll then add them to our reservoir walk pages for other customers to watch and enjoy. 

Each month we'll be running a draw to pick a video that truly captures the spirit of a reservoir experience.  The winner will be notified by email and will receive a free Flip camcorder.
