We're investing £250m in waste water treatment works around the region. These improvements will create a more natural river environment and help a wider variety of fish and wildlife to thrive in Yorkshire's rivers.

One of Yorkshire's most acclaimed photographers, Ian Beesley, has captured the true spirit of river life in the region in his spectacular touring exhibition - Rivers in Focus - which appeared across the region at selected venues last year as part of our riverlife project. If you didn't get to see the exhibition, you can still enjoy the beautiful images by visiting

Yorkshire has an enormous amount on offer with sweeping valleys, tranquil waters and woodlands teeming with wildlife. As one of the region's biggest landowners we think it's only fair that such areas of natural beauty are made accessible to everyone, that's why we've developed dozens of reservoir rambles. We're also aiming to put rivers back at the heart of Yorkshire communities and encourage people to use them for recreational purposes. We've recently developed four riverside walks on the Aire, Ryburn, Don and Dearne for adults and children of varying abilities. Why not stretch your legs and try one this year. |
