I really value the trust Yorkshire Water have in me. They let me just get on with my job, and get on with making decisions for both small and large cases. You are allowed to be responsible for your own cases and there is no restriction on the level of matters you're allowed to deal with so long as you show a willingness to be involved.

I didn't really know what to expect from Yorkshire Water as an employee for someone of my profession. Even though I was applying for a position I knew I would enjoy, the thing that attracted me to the Yorkshire Water was the variety of experience and diversity of the role that was on offer. Having come from a private practice, it was interesting to see how a legal department for a company such as this would operate.

I really believe that thanks to Yorkshire Water I have been given a number of opportunities to get involved in projects that I probably wouldn't have been part of anywhere else.

 

Prior to joining Yorkshire Water my work was contained purely within civil litigation. Since then my work has progressed into a number of other fields and I don't believe I would get such an experience anywhere else.  I have been involved in projects right across the company and had the opportunity to attend the 'Leading performance management programme a few years ago.

I enjoy the fact that I am able to practise in my field but also work as part of the bigger Yorkshire Water team across all the different business units. I feel I have developed in a number of important areas as a result of being given a number of opportunities, both in the legal department and in the company as a whole, to get involved in projects that I probably wouldn't have been part of anywhere else.

I sit on the diversity steering group and Human Resources policy forum involved with both policy strategy and policy setting. With the DSG I have been involved in presenting at conferences and events both within Yorkshire Water and externally. The ability to do this allows me to get involved in things that I never thought I would and be part of a team setting goals for the future of the company.

Perminder works in Legal. There are many different roles available in Litigation, Commercial, Conveyancing and General Law.
