The difference in Yorkshire Water employees to other individuals I know is the level of both passion and pride which they have for the company for which they work. It is great to work with such a group as it is always everyone's intention to not just succeed and deliver the minimum which is required but to outperform all expectations.
Yorkshire Water are always willing to spend time training and coaching people who're willing to put the effort into moving forward and progressing their own development. It's my intention to undertake a degree in Business Management in the forthcoming university year which is not something your average company would consider.
When I joined Yorkshire Water in 2001 as an apprentice, I was offered the opportunity to visit all areas of the business prior to selecting the area where I wanted to work. After choosing to be a clean water Field technician, I was still able to spend additional placements in areas of the business which were closely related to the role. I found this massively beneficial as I developed a network of friends across the business which helped me greatly in future years
Upon completion of my apprenticeship I began the traineeship which enabled my qualification development achieve NVQ level 2 & 3.
In my current role I often find myself in the thick of the action on the frontline, which is very exciting and highly satisfying to resolve problems which can be experienced on the water network. In more recent months I have moved from an environment which is heavily focused on work management, to a team whose aspiration is delivering a customer service which is second to none. I continue to enjoy my work and no one day is the same, I am continually learning, and feel like a valued member of the company.
