James Wood
Management Accountant
After leaving college I decided to embark upon a training programme of practical experience combined with further education. Various organisations could have offered an avenue to pursue my chosen career in finance. However, I recognised that Yorkshire Water could provide the best possible choices and training available, and I have never looked backed since!
After training and studying with Yorkshire Water, I was also given the opportunity to work on placements within different departments for the first 18 months. My first full time role was as a Finance Assistant, since then I have been fortunate to progress through a variety of finance roles which has enabled my further development.
Yorkshire Water has supported me in my studies for Further Education and Professional (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualifications. I have recently completed an 18 month leadership development programme as part of Yorkshire Water's continual drive to develop its employees. My current role is flexible in that it provides me with the opportunity to obtain finance experience while working with other colleagues throughout the whole organisation. This in turn, provides me with an insight into other roles and responsibilities and helps me to develop my skills further.
Outside of my normal day to day job I am also involved in both community and team building events, which enables me to give back to the community I work within.
James works in finance, there are many roles available such as; Group Finance Director, Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller, Accountant, Group Financial Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, Corporate Office Accountant, Management Accountant, Payroll Administration, Finance Manager.
