As a customer I have always recognised Yorkshire Water as one of the best utilities in the UK with a great ethos of customer service.  Whilst studying for my CIPD (the Human Resources qualification) at Leeds Metropolitan University I met people who worked for Yorkshire Water.

They had so many good things to say about the company and as the course progressed and we discussed the places we worked for it became apparent Yorkshire Water had a passion about its people and the role of Human Resources.  When a role became available I learnt more about the company and felt it was a successful, forward thinking organisation which I could add value to.

I am fairly new to Yorkshire Water and work with the Water Business Unit which is responsible for the supply of water to our customers.  I work as part of the Human Resources team for this area and have been involved in many diverse, and interesting aspects of both operational Human Resources and as part of the project groups delivering our demanding Human Resources business plan.  I have also been lucky enough to be part of our leadership development programme which has given me a great deal of personal development and helped me look at things in a new way.

Yorkshire Water has given me a real chance to develop myself both personally and professionally and apply the skills and knowledge I have acquired in my role on a daily basis.

 

The one thing I enjoy most about my role is the variety; no two days are the same. There are so many projects across the business to get involved with and you really feel that you are adding value to the future of our business through our people. 

Recently I was involved in our current community project, "One million Green Fingers".  This involved creating a garden for children at a local school in Leeds. This project has helped the company in its society and community aims and has really added something of value to the local school and its pupils.

Faye works in Human Resources. There are many roles available such as; HR Manager, HR Advisor, HR Support Advisor, HR Assistant, Policy Advisor, Reward Manager, Learning and Development Advisor, Learning and Development Manager. There are also roles in our Facilities and Pension teams.
