Carbon cost of water

Reduce your carbon footprint by improving water and waste water management.
Rethink, reduce and reuse.
If you're aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of your business, improving water and waste water management could be a valuable first step.
Here are our top tips
1. Rethink the way you use water on-site;
- Understand how you use water on-site for domestic purposes such as washrooms and kitchens and as part of your manufacturing process.
- Install sub-meters and flow monitoring equipment to help you understand where water is being used and when. You can then track consumption and identify trends.
2. Reduce your consumption;
- Fit conservation equipment in washrooms to reduce your consumption. Installing one passive infra red (PIR) control onto a urinal can save around 674m3 of water per year, that's a potential saving of over £1,000.
- Take regular meter readings so that you can track your consumption and easily identify any reductions made.
3. Reuse water where you can;
- Seek out opportunities to recycle water in your business or collect rain water.
