Leak detection and repair
If you've got a leak, we can usually find and fix it. Our leak detection service locates underground leaks anywhere on your site.
Using the very latest detection techniques such as gas injection and electronic leakage correlators, along with traditional and trusted methods such as surface sounding with listening sticks we can find a leak very quickly.
Once we've found a leak our 24/7 emergency response team can act fast, repairing leaks without delay or scheduling work to minimise disruption to your business.
Our leak repair service includes excavation, reinstatement and repair of the pipework. If extra work such as valve installation or repacking of new pipework is needed we can do this with the same expertise, speed and efficiency. We'll provide you with a detailed report of exactly what's been done and where.

Did you know?
If you have a leak or water supply running away to waste then your business can end up losing money quickly. For example, a leak of 1 cubic metre (m
3) per hour will cost:
£1.13 per hour
£27.12 per day
£189.84 per week
£824.90 per month
£9,898.80 per year
And this is without calculating the associated sewerage cost. Of course, if this is water that is heated then energy costs will also be involved.
It makes sense to be as water efficient as possible, monitor consumption on your site and check out any suspicion of leakage as soon as possible.
Here are some simple checks that customers can carry out if they suspect a leak -
- Check that the reading on the invoice is similar to the reading on the water meter, this will eliminate the possibility of an incorrect meter reading. Also, is the latest 'reading' an actual meter reading or an estimate?
- Check that all water using devices such as toilets, urinals and ball valves are working correctly. Constant flushing of urinals and dripping taps can quickly increase water consumption.
- This simple test will confirm whether there is a problem on the underground pipe work or within the site/building. The customer should turn off the internal stop tap where possible. After around 10 minutes and while the stop tap is turned off, check the water meter. If any of the black or red digits continue to turn this will indicate there may be a problem between the meter and the internal stop tap (on underground pipe work). If there is no movement on the meter then this indicates that any high consumption issues are internal.
If you don't have a leak but seem to use a lot of water, we can help you to identify areas of high consumption on your site and suggest opportunities to remedy this such as installing water conservation equipment.
