Customers in Halifax lead the way
As part of our ongoing work to understand where, how and when sewers in the region are
becoming blocked we have been carrying out a large scale survey of Halifax's underground network.
After checking over 5,250 properties, 1,800 manholes and 2,500 drains the results have been very encouraging. Overall, the number of blockages is 90% down on 2010 with 53 blockages found, only 2 of which were caused by customers putting fat down the sink.
It's great to see that our customers are understanding the impact that putting the wong things down their sinks and toilets can have on themselves and their neighbours and taking appropriate action.
