Our current investments

We're implementing a five year investment programme which will be completed in 2010 and is worth nearly £1.5 billion.
Our aim is to safeguard Yorkshire's water and sewerage infrastructure whilst being more efficient to keep prices as low as possible.
We're spending an average of £750 per household to maintain and upgrade our pipes and works to reduce the risk of bursts, low water pressure, incidents of discolouration, sewer flooding and odour problems.
Our investment includes:
- Spending around £247 million to improve our treatment works and upgrade over 1,200 miles of water mains - enough pipework to stretch from Leeds to London and back three times! This investment will improve water quality and the risk of discolouration for over one million customers.
- Spending £39 million to resolve sewer flooding at 386 properties and to resolve outdoor flooding at 88 locations
- Spending £90 million to upgrade and replace Combined Sewer Overflows across the region and improve river water quality
- Our Riverlife project to invest more than £227 million to ensure our largest sewage treatment works comply with the requirements of the new Fresh Water Fish Directive
To summarise our plan we have produced a 'Clear' guide to our investment for 2005 - 2010
