Yorkshire Water Working Hard To Complete Burst Repairs

Engineers working on fixing what may have been Yorkshire's most destructive burst water main have warned it could be after Easter before the road is mended and things are back to normal. The incident on Cemetery Road in Bradford in December was caused by the structural failure of a 30-inch trunk main. However, the sheer force of water also destroyed another 11-inch water main, a 600mm sewer as well as vital gas pipes and electricity cables. Repairs, which have been further hampered by the severe winter weather, are beginning to take shape with work to replace the electricity cables due to be completed soon, allowing repairs to the sewer and water main to take place shortly afterwards - but it could still be May before Cemetery Road is reopened to traffic between Duncombe Road and Allerton Road.

Crack Team Has The Bottle For Afghanistan

Troops heading for Afghanistan have been equipped with non-drip water bottles by Yorkshire Water after one soldier became the envy of his unit after being given one by his dad, who works for the company. L/Cpl Carl Belcher was chuffed with the robust design which was put to the test in training with the 4 Brigade Reconnaissance Force - and it wasn't long before his brothers in arms were inquiring how they could lay their hands on one. A quick call to Yorkshire Water HQ by dad Neil was all it took - and soon 100 bottles were dispatched to Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire in time for distribution to the soldiers before their deployment to Helmand.

5 CIPR Yorkshire Pride AwardsNational In-house team of the Year 2008

A hugely successful night saw us pick up a Gold award for 'Best Website' at the Regional CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Awards. We also won awards for our ongoing One Million Green Finger's initiative which was celebrated with silver awards for 'Best Use of Community Relations' and 'Best Use of Corporate Relations', whilst our Yorvision conference, held for colleagues in 2007, won a silver award for 'Best Internal Communications'.

At the National CIPR (Chartered Institute of Public Relations) Excellence Awards 2008, we were crowned 'National in-house PR team of the Year'.
