Campaigns
Here's a selection of campaigns we've been working on recently.
Edna and Mary - delivering great value for money!
We wanted to show customers what they were paying for - something that 40% of our customers wanted to know more about.
Edna and Mary were introduced as our Yorkshire spokesgrannies to help explain how we invested our customers' money to provide great value for money. In April 2010 these lovely ladies started springing up on TV, online and even at our treatment works to see how we supply 1.3billion litres of water every day, take it all away and return it safely to Yorkshire's rivers and coastal waters.

Save water, save money
Regardless of the time of year we always encourage our customers to use water wisely. Throughout summer 2010, to help provide our customers with lots of useful gadgets to help the save water in the home, we were out and about at city centres across Yorkshire.
We visited four city centres - Leeds, York, Sheffield and Hull - armed with our giant toilets and free water saving packs that included Flushsavers, water sticks that tell you when to water plants, four minute shower timers and lots of useful tips. We gave away over 20,000 water saving packs and chatted to lots of customers about what they can do to help play their part in helping us conserve water.

One Million Green Fingers
We're committed to giving something back to our local community and our award winning
One Million Green Fingers campaign helps us deliver this aspiration in a fun and innovative way.
One Million Green Fingers utilises our employee volunteers, sending them out into primary schools across the region to create sustainable school gardens. From story telling areas, to vegetable gardens and live willow domes, colleagues from across the business work with schools to give them the garden they desire helping to bring learning alive.

Bin It Don't Flush It
Every year we spend thousands of pounds clearing blockages from our sewers with over 50% of them being caused by people mistakenly disposing of items like fats, oil, grease, nappies and baby/make-up wipes down sinks and toilets.
The consequences of these blockages can cause customers' homes to flood which is not a very pleasant experience. Our CIPR Award winning Bin It Don't Flush It campaign uses the humorous character Numptee to make people think twice about how they dispose of these items. A series of Numptee videos have been developed highlighting the problems.
