Achievements and awards

We're really proud of the difference we've made to Yorkshire.

Here's a few examples of how we've helped Yorkshire's communities and given something back to our customers.

We installed 1,400 water coolers during our campaign to bring fresh drinking water to Yorkshire's primary schools
Over 850 of our employees volunteered last year, making a huge contrubution to Yorkshire communities work

But it's not just us that think we've made a difference, our work has also been recognised with awards and accolades.

We were the first company to be awarded the Investing in Volunteers for Employers (IiVE) quality mark, the only standard which recognises employer-supported volunteering.
We received a Big Tick award for 'Making a Difference in Yorkshire' for our extensive volunteering programme and another 'Highly Commended' Big Tick award specifically for our One Million Green Fingers initiative.
Our One Million Green Fingers initiative won the regional 2009 Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) award for corporate responsibility and won silver for community relations.

I am thrilled that Yorkshire Water has strengthened its public commitment to volunteering by being the first to achieve IiVE. In undertaking the rigorous accreditation process, the company has ensured that its employees are motivated and supported, its managers are achieving best practice, and, as a result, the community will reap the rewards of the volunteers' hard work.
